Games Loading Slow Due to Drivers

The performance of a computer system will be affected by the use of wrong drivers. But then again, even the right drivers can cause your programs to go wary – especially when it comes to video intensive games. Certain games, like Halo, require a high end video driver for it run properly. Without meeting the video and sound requirements, complex games will not be able to run at all.

This is where computer users encounter errors about their system. The usual reaction of computer users when they see such error is to turn to their drivers. Many users think that all the solution to slow loading problems can be solved by a driver update. This may be true in most cases. But then, you should be very sure about the new set of drivers that you’ll use for your computer system.

New drivers may sound good, but you never new of the bugs that could be found in the program. Unless the updated drivers have got superior reviews from fellow users, you can postpone installing them until you get clearance.

If you have to update drivers, you need to be sure of the one you’re downloading and installing. Drivers are distributed in an archived file. It can be hard to determine if the file that you got is exactly what you need without reading the release notes first. Users have to download the driver that is specially made for their device and their operating system. Any error could be very costly – it could cause your computer to crash.

The better solution is to reinstall the old drivers and see if that solves the problem. Games loading slow due to drivers can be addressed by the simple driver uninstall and reinstall. Drivers can get corrupted too. Taking them out and installing it anew could make the problem go away. This would also solve invalid registry entries that could cause drivers malfunctions. Reinstalling old drivers may just do the trick.

Check the manufacturer’s website regularly to know of any bugs and fixes that your hardware may need. While updated drivers may cause unsteadiness to your system in rare cases, it may also solve most simple problems. The release notes of a certain driver would show what has been tweaked, improved, and changed from the previous version.

If the game that you are playing is loading slowly, try to check your video, sound, and Direct X drivers. These are the common culprits why games are not optimized accordingly.

Motherboard Drivers Can Crash Your PC

If there’s one component that plays the most crucial role in a personal computer, that would be the motherboard. The motherboard is the one tasked to do almost all of the computer’s processes. It is also where the rest of the components are connected. Even the brain of the computer, which is the CPU or the Central Processing Unit, relies on the motherboard’s resources to work.

Motherboard needs drivers to function too, especially its chipsets, which are the main components of this particular computer hardware. Uploading the wrong drivers can crash your PC. And if you have to reinstall your motherboard’s drivers, you have to make sure that you use only the right files for the task.

The Bios is also a part of the motherboard. Your computer can work even without an operating system because of the Bios, or the programming code locked into the motherboard. While Bios is considered a firmware, its function is very similar to a driver. And for some computer users, when you mention updating motherboard drivers, it could also mean that you’re updating the Bios.

It is quite easy to update the Bios. But then, this task is not always recommended. While it can be a solution to your problem, it can also do the other effect – and that is to shut down your computer system permanently. Think of it as erasing your computer’s memory. Once it is erased, it is quite impossible to bring it all back.

It isn’t a problem if you know that the Bios update is the right one and that it is compatible to your motherboard. This is quite hard to determine, unless you know the exact make and model of the motherboard you have in your computer. If you don’t, then that’s when confusion and crashes arise.

Furthermore, Bios updates are not a click and go type of application. This is performed in DOS mode, meaning there are no Windows interface to rely on. Bios updates are done through a floppy disk or right now, with the use of a USB key drive. You can’t flash the Bios on Windows mode because the operating system will be using a big portion of the motherboard’s resources and altering it won’t be possible. You have to perform the update in a state wherein the motherboard performs the least tasks possible.

Motherboard drivers or bios update can only give you only two types of results – a better computer system or a crashed PC. You can cross your fingers to enjoy the former – but there are high chances that you’ll end up with the latter. So unless you’re a real computer guru, stay clear of motherboard drivers of bios updates for the meantime.

The Wrong Driver Can Kill Your Computer

If you think that drivers are small details needed by computers, you’re gravely mistaken. The job of drivers is so immense that a computer can’t work without it. In fact, loading the wrong drivers can kill your computer. If you don’t want this to happen, you might as well make sure that you have the precise driver that your computer needs.

All the devices inside your computer need drivers. Your video adapter, for instance, needs to process the drivers even before the boot-up process in order to display the desktop properly. If you load the wrong drivers, for example, an ATI driver for an NVDIA card, you will end up with big icons on the desktop and a very low screen resolution. You can only solve this problem by loading the right files. In worse cases, you won’t get to the desktop at all. Right after the Windows splash screen, you’ll have a blank monitor and a blinking cursor. If you don’t know any better, you’ll say that the wrong drivers had just killed your PC.

The solution for this problem is to go to safe mode, load the Windows generic video drivers. Uninstall and reinstall of drivers from there. Once the right drivers and the proper video settings are configured, you will be able to view your desktop again and use your computer normally.

This is just one thing that can happen to you if you upload the wrong drivers to your system. The sound and modem drivers may not create as big an error. But they can cause IRQ errors during startup too. IRQ errors, for those who don’t know it yet, are usually shown in a blue screen during boot up, which is more popularly called the blue screen of death. While it is possible to repair these errors, the usual solution is to reinstall the operating system.

Wrong network drivers may cause your computer not to boot up if you’re on a network boot mode. Chipset driver errors are more intense. It could cause your PC to work sluggishly to the extent that you can’t use it for any application at all.

So unless you remove the wrong drivers and replace it with the right one, you won’t be able to solve the problems you’re encountering in your computer. This is how important keeping the right drivers is. If you’re in doubt of any driver file, don’t install it unless you have checked, double checked, and validated it as the one you really need.
